8 Dec 2017 · Coroner Michael Mellun · East Riding and Kingston Upon Hull

The coroner's concerns

  1. 1. synergistic toxicity from prescribed CNS depressants

“[the deceased] died as a result of drug poisoning. However, there was no evidence of illicit drug use (other than cannabis which the Consultant [name redacted] confirmed had not played a part in the death). All prescribed drugs in his blood were within the therapeutic range. The Consultant [name redacted] explained that the prescribed drugs had combined in a synergistic effect, acting together to poison [the deceased].”
